IASS Membership
We are pleased to announce that all registered participants in the 17th World Sanskrit Conference will receive a complimentary membership (for the 2018 calendar year) to the International Association of Sanskrit Studies, the foremost professional association of international Sanskrit scholars, which founded the World Sanskrit Conference in 1971. This is a $50 value ($25 for students). After registering for the WSC, your name, contact details, and membership fees will be forwarded to the IASS, who will contact you for the next steps.
If you do not wish to become a member of the IASS, you may opt out of the complimentary membership during the registration process (without refund of the value of the membership).
As part of the WSC2018 registration process, you will also have the option of purchasing a 2-year top-up of your IASS membership, so that you remain an IASS member in good standing through the 2020 calendar year. You may purchase this as an add-on item during the registration process for WSC2018.
If you are currently a paid IASS member for 2018, you have two options: you may either elect to (a) apply the complimentary IASS membership for the 2019 calendar year, or (b) receive a discounted registration rate. If you choose the latter, please contact the Secretariat before paying registration fees online. We will not be able to provide discounts after the registration fee has been paid.
[Also, please be sure NOT to select the 2-year top-up option if you are a paid IASS member, and instead contact the IASS directly for securing your membership through 2020. Please do not hesitate to contact the Secretariat for proper procedures BEFORE paying registration fees, as we will not be able to make adjustments or provide refunds afterwards, without an additional $35 administrative fee.]

TRAVEL INFORMATION
As Vancouver is a high-demand travel destination in the summer months, it is extremely important to secure your flights as early as possible and to be sure that you leave ample time to make any necessary arrangements for securing a visitor's visa.
To find out if you need a visitor's visa to come to Canada for WSC2018, and to discover the process for applying for the visa, please visit the support page of the Government of Canada's Immigration and Citizenship office (ICRC). They also provide a valuable tool to help determine if you will qualify to receive a visitor's visa. We will do our best to help facilitate your visa application by providing a formal Letter of Invitation for you, but the ICRC is the final authority on the approval of visitor's visas, and we cannot be held liable in the case of a negative outcome.
To make the process easier, all WSC delegates who need visitor's visas are urged to (a) apply for the visitor's visa using the online method and (b) apply for the visa as early as possible.
We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Clickontours, whose agents in India, Canada, USA, and Europe will be able to help you with flight bookings as well as a full variety of other travel needs, including visa applications, flight insurance, pre- and post-conference vacation packages, or non-UBC hotel reservations, should you need to make them.
